The Basle Fasnacht is the greatest Fasnacht of Switzerland. It starts with the "Morgestraich" on Monday after Ash Wednesday at 4.00 am. It lasts for exactly 72 hours and ends on Thursday morning at 4.00 pm with the "Endstraich". At this time, the Basle centre is dominated of the Fasnächtlern (carnivalists) which move through the Streets, pubs and shopping districts in their groups.
